Museu Oscar Niemeyer

The Oscar Niemeyer Museum ( MON ) opened in 2002. It’s a space dedicated to the exhibition of Visual Arts , Architecture , Urban Planning and Design . It has about 35 thousand square meters of building area and more than 17 thousand square meters of exhibition area , the largest in Latin America.

Cathedral

The Cathedral of Curitiba is on Tiradentes Square. One of the most important cultural heritage of the city. Built from 1876 to 1893 in neo-Gothic style , according to the project of the French architect Alphone of Plas . Occupies the same site of the old matrix of the 17th century.

Botanic Garden

Trademark of Curitiba, was openned in 1991. It is one of the most visited spots of Curitiba created in the image of French gardens , extends its carpet of flowers to visitors at the entrance .

The greenhouse , with a metallic structure , has botanic species that are national reference , and a source of water. The native forest is dotted trails for walking routes.

Tanguá Park

An example of recycling of urban space. Opened in November 1996 , represents another stage of the project to preserve the course Barigüi river, along with the Tingui and Barigüi parks. With a total area of 450,000 m2 , stand out in the park two quarries , joined by a 45 meter long tunnel , which can be crossed by a walkway over the water.

The park also has a jogging track , bike path , gazebo , snack bar and Poty Lazzarotto Garden .Open 24 hours.

Paço da Liberdade

Opened in February 24, 1916 , was the former City Hall of Curitiba , with neoclassical details and art-nouveau designs , construction is in brickwork based on concrete blocks and masonry.

The project of restoration has respected the original features of the building and favors the use of public space.

Barigui Park

The park is named after the Barigui river that was dammed to form a large lake inside. Is one of the city’s largest and also oldest lakes. Several species of animals live free in the park , such as birds , capybaras and small rodents . A flock of sheep can be seen daily on the lawns , under the care of employees.

Ópera de Arame

It’s a theater and its name derives from Constructive style, Made of Steel pipes and steel structures , covered with transparent polycarbonate plates , remembering the fragility of a construction wire.

Circular in shape , the building is surrounded by an artificial lake.

Curitiba’s Old Town , in the San Francisco district covers part of the oldest buildings of Curitiba and is the venue of traditional fair of Art and Craft . Takes place every Sunday since it was created in 1973 .

As a matter of respect for all the guests at the hostel: The use of the kitchen is from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., and please keep the noise down after 10 p.m. and early morning.

For conservation reasons: please turn off lights, A/C, and fans before leaving your room.

We kindly ask you not to throw any bulky objects in the toilet; not even toilet paper.

People visiting you at Hostel Matilda are only allowed in common area area; not in the rooms.

There is a R$7,00 charge for lost room keys and R$30,00 for missing towels.

Hostel Matilda does not have a laundry service but we offer laundry services. Please, do not dry your clothes in public areas. Clothes hanging in public areas will be removed by the staff.

Cancellation Policy

Less than 72 hours prior to arrival date – 100% of the price of the first night will be charged.

The Cancellation policy also includes No Show reservations. You are still responsible for payment of a room which was blocked and reserved for you regardless if you did not arrive.

It is the client’s responsibility to contact us if they are unable to keep their reservation. Email is the best way to contact us.

SECURITY

Do not let people in the hostel. For everyone’s safety ONLY the staff is authorized to do this.

Hostel Matilda is not responsible for lost or missing items in the hostel. Please keep your room locked at all times.

If you need a taxi, Hostel Matilda staff can make the arrangements for you.

We do not sell alcoholic drinks to people under 18 years old.

All our rooms are non-smoking rooms. Smoking is permitted only in open outside areas. Please, use ashtrays at all times.
